2/24/99 ARABS & ISRAEL 2682: Loss Of Diversity
THE REAL LOSS OF JEWISH DIVERSITY

By diversity, here, I refer to diversity of opinion about the Arab-Israel conflict. The Establishment's noose around expansion of such diversity has been tight, as "A & I" long has editorialized. Barry Chamish shows that it has just gotten breath-takingly tighter.
After having proved and discussed the existence of cover-ups in the Rabin assassination and prosecution, sensibly, diligently, and bravely, Mr. Chamish has earned for attention to his notion of a general conspiracy against Israeli independence, of which the assassination was a part.
As the pieces fall into place, his notion gains color. After all, the prior article noted, the US government has been in a long-term conspiracy against the Jewish state. Informed Jewish nationalists know that.
We also know that most of the Media and leftists go along with US policy. What Chamish believes is that the Council on Foreign Relations is pulling the strings. His theory recalls the excitement of past years over the munitions manufacturers' largely having caused the Balkan and First World Wars. Another shocking revelation came from "The Secret War on the Jews." That book proved that an oil-banking-industry oligopoly was influencing the Allied governments to protect their investments in Nazi industry and help the Arabs against Israel. Fewer and fewer corporations own the Media. Diversity of thought becomes ever more difficult.
Now Chamish has updated his notes about the council on Foreign Relations (CFR) and included an earlier piece on it I missed.
"A & I" acknowledged that often some prominent person who urges Israel to take some other step toward self-destruction turns out to be a member of the CFR. That is why I'm getting less resistant to Chamish's accusation of a CFR conspiracy.
His 2/21 e-mailing on the subject is persuasive. CFR has a goal: global unity. Its 2,900 members include many notables. 18 are in Clinton's Cabinet. So are the State Dept. nemeses of Israel: Albright, Ross, Indyk, and Christopher. So are the Bronfmans.
Charles Bronfman has been buying up key industries in Israel. He will become the strongest economic influence in the country. Recent purchases were in a major TV producer and a 25% share in Koor industries, the biggest holding company. At the time, he commented, "No other international investor will put his money in Israel unless the peace process continues." That is false.
The Bronfmans founded the leftist "Jer. Rpt.." The family also founded the New Israel Fund, which supports disintegrative policies and strengthening the Arabs.
Edgar Bronfman admitted helping to get Rabin elected in 1992. He claimed it was because he believed in the "peace process." But Rabin ran as a hawk. Rabin (and Peres) were deceiving the electorate; Bronfman was part of the deception. That, friends, is conspiracy!
With Rabin gone, Barak has been groomed by CFR associates, though they must have more than one iron in the fire.
The pro-appeasement American Jewish Congress was headed by CFR member Henry Siegman. The Bronfmans funded and run the World Jewish Congress as an agency for their policy. Yes, Edgar Bronfman does accomplish things for Jewry, from that vantage. That does not negate his undermining of Jewish sovereignty.
Chamish accuses Edgar of having steered Soviet Jewry more to the US, rather than letting them bolster Israel. He attributes the leftist smear campaign that ousted Tom Dine and other successful Jewish nationalists from the top AIPAC positions. CFR fosters the divisive religious controversies in Israel being generated from the US.
Finally, Charles Bronfman and Ronald Lauder took over the UJA, UIA, Council of Jewish Federations, and the Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations. As soon as supposed right-winger Lauder's election was ratified, he professed to being an admirer of Rabin and an advocate of the "peace process." The Jewish Community Relations Council already was leftist. All the major Jewish secular organizations are in control of a few big shots and a regimented pro-Oslo line.
I don't understand why, if the CFR wants an orderly world, it favors the unstable Arabs.
